Children's Hospital Los Angeles Receives $15 Million Donation

The new funds will support clinical care programs.

By City News Service

A $15 million donation from a Los Angeles couple will support new clinical care programs and research at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, hospital officials announced today.

In honor of their donation, the hospital's Gateway Building will be renamed the Joyce and Stanley Black Family Building.

"This incredible gift will go toward the life-saving and life-giving programs that help the 97,000 children treated annually by our hospital,'' said Richard D. Cordova, president and chief executive officer of Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

"Joyce and Stanley are longtime supporters of Children's Hospital Los Angeles and their generous donation reflects their devotion to providing the best medical care to our children.''

The Black Family Building will serve as the physical link between the hospital's longstanding care centers and the six-story Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion, which opened in 2011.

The newly renamed building overlooks the Joyce and Stanley Black and Family Healing and Meditation Garden, an outdoor quarter-acre garden named in 2004 in honor of the family's $2 million gift.

The couple are longtime fundraisers and supporters of many Los Angeles organizations in addition to Children's Hospital, including City of Hope, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the Jewish Federation, and the Boy Scouts of America.

Stanley Black serves as the founder and general partner of the Beverly Hills-based Black Equities Group, a real estate investment company with properties in 35 states and more than 20 million square feet of space.
