Black Friday in the Neighborhood, Small Business Saturday in the Streets

Your local small businesses are open on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. We've rounded up a little list for you to glance at.

Forget the big-name stores, the crowded shopping malls, and Walmart protests, you moved to this side of town for its lack of each and every one of those mass consumption dumps! You fit right in here for the mom and pop energy and the one-of-a-kind neighborhood spots and they happen to be celebrating this weekend as well.

Kicking off the first Friday of holiday shopping, the biggest deals happen to be if you or your loved ones are music fans. This year, Record Store Day, the popular yearly celebration of the independent record store, is participating on Black Friday which means our neighborhood shops, Origami Vinyl, Vacation Vinyl and Mono Records will be wide open with exclusive records and discounts for one day only.

If straight ahead bohemian gifts are your thing, the Mohawk General Store in the heart of the Sunset/Mohawk stretch, will be offering up 20% discounts for all their nifty gifts and items.

For the kids in your life, Yolk on Silver Lake Boulevard will be marking down all their unique clothes and books.

Ladies, take note: Eileen Boutique in the Sunset Junction will be knocking off $10 on all the dresses and will be parting with free earrings for every $25 purchased.

Gather, the unique hub for local designers, will be knocking down 20% off everything in their Hollywood Boulevard store and their fantastic online store.

For Small Business Saturday, all of your favorite restaurants, boutiques and shops in town are connecting with American Express, so if you’re a card member, you’re in luck.

If you spend $25 or more on, say a pizza dinner at Masa or some leather gear at Rough Trade or even some rad housewares at Bar Keeper, you’ll get a $25 credit from AmEx. Translation: if you play your cards right, IT’S FREE. (You’ll have to enroll online in a free program of theirs, but its totally worth it. Check it and see.)

HAPPY HUNTING!
