Beer & Wine at 3 EP Restaurants Gets Crucial Support

The planning committee of the Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council voted to support beer and wine sales at Fix, Xoia and Red Hill.

The planning committee of the Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council voted to support beer and wine sales at three Echo Park restaurants Wednesday:  ,  and Red Hill, which is still under construction.

All the restaurants have appeared at various council meetings to explain their plans in the past.

The full neighborhood council must now take up the matter.

The city zoning officials will weigh in on Fix's proposed beer and wine sales on October 5 at 10:30 am at City Hall.

See here the official notice about that hearing.

According to its application for a conditional use permit, Fix plans to stop selling beer and wine at 10 p.m.

“We were impressed with the amount of outreach done by Fix Coffee,” said council president Jose Sigala, after Wednesday's meeting.

Fix owner Marc Gallucci has appeared at numerous community events, and has even hosted a Town Hall meeting about its possible beer and wine license.

Gallucci has also sent a letter out to people in the surrounding neighborhood asking them to reach out to him with their views.

Neighborhood residents worry  about the Fix location, in the middle of a residential neighborhood and near several schools.

RED HILL IS ALSO LOCATED IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD

Residents have similar issues with the Red Hill location.  Though closer to Sunset, just off Echo Park Avenue, it is too in a residential area.

Red Hill was asked by the committee to consider ending sales at 1 a.m.  as opposed to 2 a.m. as it had hoped.

Meantime, Xoia Vietnamese Restaurant is on Sunset Boulevard, near the many Echo Park bars and restaurants that some would like to see become a “liquor-only” zone.

The council committee still has not taken a position on the new 7-11 planned for Glendale Boulevard.
