Yesterday, several hundred LAPD Rampart officers, family and friends, ran a 5K through the Rampart area. We ran to support our own officer Eber Mancia, who was diagnosed with liver cancer. Yesterday was his last day at work, he will be leaving for Florida to fight this battle. Eber is, "In It To Win It," and our prayers will be with him every step of the way.
Rampart hosts its edition of "National Night Out" Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a candlelight walk through MacArthur Park.
Back at the Rampart station, community groups will have booths and there will be rides for kids and free food.

"National Night Out" is a national event on Aug. 7. It raises awareness around community safety.
