This Week in Live Music in Echo Park

Live music picks for the week in and around the Eastside.

Wednesday - The cosmic country-rock sounds of Futurebirds touch down at the Satellite in Silver Lake. You'll want to see this band live, trust me (my label put their first record out). Waters (Van Pierszalowski, Ex-Port O'Brien) and Porland's Loch Lomand support.

Eight dollars gets you in the door at the Bootleg Theater for Gwendolyn, RT in the 44s and Old Californio. The Echo host the Benefit for the Bicycle Kitchen with The Cooling Time, Telamatique and others ($10). It's Low End Theory night at Airliner. Both James Blake and Flying Lotus popped in last week, so, as alway get there early to avoid lines.

Thursday - The library -- not just for books anymore. Mia Doi Todd and Bleached (the Clavin sisters, formerly of Mika Miko) perform at This Is Your Library and LA's Central Library. Click on that link for details about the series. Jason Simon, The Black Apples and 1776 perform at The Satellite.

Friday - "The dream police, they live inside of my head. The dream police, they come to me in my bed." That's right, Cheap Trick are doing Dream Police at the Greek Friday night. The Bombastic Symphonic Philharmonic with Rhythmic Noise Mind Choir in 4D will perform alongside these and other Cheap Trick hits.

Twelve bucks gets you into for Weekend, Talk Normal and Tan Dollar. Downstairs at the Echolex is Monarchy, Hot As Sun and The Holloys. Inara George and The Quick Hellos are at Bootleg with a free show 11pm with The Shore.

Saturday - James Vincent McMorrow, William Elliot Whitmore and John Gold perform at the Bootleg Theater. McMorrow's name seems to be everywhere or late and William Elliot Whitmore always delivers live. The party Saturday night is without a doubt at the Satellite...check this lineup: Har Mar Superstar, Blake Miller and Minutes 'Til Midnight. Colour Revolt, Colourmusic and Torches in Trees take the stage at The Echo; downstairs at the Echoplex it's Burkina Electric and DJ Spooky for twenty bucks.

Sunday - TV on the Radio, Arctic Monkeys, Panda Bear, Warpaint and Smith Westerns at the Hollywood Bowl. That's a whole lotta indie rock. Early show at the Echo: Southern Culture On the Skids (5pm). Later that night Veronica Falls, Neverever and Sea Lions take the stage. Head to The Satellite for the twisted comedic stylings of Neil Hamburger.
