Hula To Happen in Downtown L.A.

Hawaii’s traditional dance celebrated with two free shows at Grand Performances Watercourt Stage Downtown on August 10 and August 11

L.A. is home to more hula schools and groups than any other mainland city.

Here’s your chance to see raconteur Patrick Makuakane’s hula mua (hula that evolves) Friday August 10 and Saturday August 11 from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. at Grand Performances Watercourt Stage.

The dynamic hula company has the reputation and audience to bring down the house with their trademark thunderous, hip-shaking, theatrical take on Hawai’ian dance.

Fluidly weaving modern musical forms like opera, electronica, and pop into the lilting visual vocabulary of Hawaii’s traditional dance, Na Lei Hulu I Ka Wekiu’s return to the WaterCourt Stage will captivate hula purists and newbies alike.

Many health benefits have been touted thanks to the Hula dance, from low- or no-impact cardiovascular toning to stress reduction and increased coordination. Above all, though, hula is fun.

Grand Performances is located on 350 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90071
