Holiday Beard and Moustache Contest to Benefit Silver Lake Library

 “Start growing now,” says Silver Lake Library Young Adult Librarian Johathan Pitre.  

He’s talking about the new Beard and Moustache contest the library is hosting.

Categories include Hipster, Scholarly, Most Outrageous and Santa Claus.

(Ed.: Best Fake has also been added due to popular demand.)

Pitre says the event will benefit the library by bringing in a new niche of people—presumably, bearded hipsters, scholars and Santa Clauses.

Pitre says that Library’s also working with one event sponsor--the Cha Cha Lounge--to have pint glasses on hand to sell to raise fund through the library's Friends group.

The contest itself is free to enter. Just email Pitre at silver@lapl.org by Dec. 19 at 5 p.m.

Other sponsors include the Silver Lake Wine Shop, the bar the  the Red Lion Tavern and the record label Relapse Records.
