Germs' Manager Wants a (Non-Alcoholic) Drink at Mohawk Bend Too

Our recent post about the drink named after the Germs' lead singer "Darby Crash" caught the eye of Nicole Panter, the band's former manager, who posted the following comment on our site.

Darby didn't want to be in The Decline of Western Civilization because he was afraid "people will think I want to be a rock star."

(Back then only X wanted to be rock stars and we used to sneer at them for it). I made him be in it.

[Ed.: Decline is the 1980 documentary directed by Penelope Spheeris about L.A.'s punk scene.]

But Darby also used to say that he wanted a bigger-than-life-sized bronze statue of himself in every town square in America.

(Seriously, he did). I guess this will do. You made me laugh, which is not so easy these days.

And now I want a cocktail named after me. Liquor-free, please.  I am perhaps the only o.g. punk who's never tasted beer (smells bad enough) -- maybe an updated Shirley Temple.

(Thank you to my Echo Park pal, Scott Fajack, for bringing this to my attention. I love Mohawk Bend, btw.)
