Eric Garcetti to Lead Tour of Atwater Village

Eric Garcetti, President of the Los Angeles City Council, will help kick off the new FOUND L.A. program on Sat., October 1, 2011, by giving a tour of Atwater Village through his eyes. Created by the non-profit L.A. Commons (www.lacommons.org)--with the mission to connect people across Los Angeles' vast metropolis through the artistic, social and cultural projects that celebrate the unique stories of L.A.'s neighborhoods--Found L.A. is a free, citywide event that will showcase culturally dynamic neighborhoods through tours provided by residents, public figures and renowned artists, who volunteer to share their unique perspective.

Councilman Garcetti's tour of Atwater Village--a neighborhood he represents on the City Council--will include walking along the Los Angeles River, in the residential area, and on the neighborhood's main drag, Glendale Boulevard, which boasts a burgeoning array of boutiques and restaurants. His tour will take place from 4:00-5:00pm.

Our starting point will be the Red Car River Park.  The closest street address (for those who want to use GPS) is 3530 Ferncroft Road.  There is street parking in the neighborhood.

Found L.A. is supported by the California Arts Council and The Boeing Company.

L.A. Commons, a project of Community Partners, works in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles, facilitating artistic processes, open to all, that result in highly visible art projects that tell dynamic neighborhood stories. L.A. Commons builds community by validating the importance of local narratives, enhancing the sense of belonging felt by a broad range of stakeholders and encouraging stronger ties between the people and places of Los Angeles.
