ECHO PARK HOSTS ITS 3RD ANNUAL ART WALK

The sidewalks of Echo Park Avenue + Sunset Boulevard will turn into a creative and playful landscape where art enthusiasts, community members, families and anyone dropping in will be able to enjoy “Public Displays of Art” on Saturday May 19, 2012 from 12-6pm.  All are welcome to take part on this sidewalk “Art hop” bonanza of local artists, musicians and performers with local shops, restaurants and boutiques offering special promotions for attending patrons.  Food Trucks and Carts will be serving up their latest mouth watering concoctions as well as local restaurants and cafes serving event day specials.

The mission behind this event is to “connect and celebrate community” and to share the neighborhood culture with locals and visitors alike.  Sponsored by Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council and Art Needs Freedom.  With special support from Feeding Birds Boutique, 826LA, Echo Park Patch, Yelp, and The Eastsider LA.  This event would not be possible without support from local businesses, artists, musicians, neighborhood organizations and residents.

On this one day event, imagine being guided by whimsical chalk art by artist Kilby Rodell and friends, chain link fence galleries, driveway theaters and outdoor movie screenings, hands on crafting stations, intersection musical and dance performances, parking-lot mini concerts, live art works and other various creative endeavors.
