Berlin Stories Under The Stars

Sancho presents author Danielle de Picciotto and Alexander Hacke of the legendary music group Einsturzende Neubauten.

Danielle de Picciotto and Alexander Hacke were part of the Berlin scene right before the wall came down. Danielle had moved there from New York City.  Alexander was a native Berliner and a founding member of the seminal industrial band Einsturzende Neubauten.

On Sunday July 17,  the couple will present a very special double bill at Sancho Gallery.  Danielle will read from her book Beauty of Transgression, which covers the underground cultural scene in Berlin from 1987 to 2005.

Part of the book covers the evolution of  Techno Music--with Dimitri Hegemann, founder of Tresor Records and Gudrun Gut one of the top electronic music artist who went on to start labels Monika Enterprise and Moabit Musik.

Afterwards 30 Years of Einsturzende Neubauten, a collage of interviews, concert footage and collaborations the band have had over the span of their career, will screen. Among those is the band's work with German theatre director Peter Zadek.
