Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch Remembered in Atwater Village

The Beastie Boy died last Friday, and some went to Atwater Village to take note.

Last Friday came the sad word that cancer had caught up with Adam Yauch, the rapper sometimes known as MCA, of the Beastie Boys.

The Beasties, of course, are strongly identified with New York and the East Coast rap.

But they spent some time in L.A., most famously recording their 1992 album Check Your Head in a second-floor studio just off Glendale Boulevard in Atwater Village.

According to some, G-Son studios is still there, unused but intact, above what's now Atwater Village Farm and Jill's Paint.

When Yauch passed last week, some came to the spot to pay their respects.
