John Marshall High School graduate Annette Chardona Charles died Wednesday at her Los Angeles Home from complications of cancer.

Charles, who was 63, is perhaps best known for her role as “Cha Cha DiGregorio” in the movie-musical Grease.

Charles became an educator, teaching speech for several years at California State University at Northridge. She also worked on many community projects, some of them with Council District 4’s Tom LaBonge, who also attended Silver Lake's John Marshall.

He said in a statement that “as a professor, she motivated and encouraged countless students to pursue their dreams.”

Charles is the second person from Grease to die this year. At the end of May, Jeff Conaway died after falling into a coma and being taken off life support.
