Casey’s Irish Pub St. Patrick’s Day Street Fair
613 S. Grand Ave., 213-629-2353

You know a celebration’s serious when it starts at 6 a.m.—even if the first order of business is a sunrise service. Billed as “LA’s Largest St. Patrick’s Day Celebration,” this downtown street fair is taking over Grand Avenue between 6th and Wilshire until 2 a.m. Expect a day full of live music, DJs, Jameson shots, endless Guinness, giveaways and plenty of plastic beads. The music kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with the Young Dubliners and admission is free.

Hollywood's first St. Paddy's Day beerfest will be held at three adjacent locations, with $3 draft beers, $5 mixed drinks, a U2 cover band and Irish dancing girls. Did we mention drink and food specials, 50+ beer selections and a DJ? Leapin’ Leprechauns. Admission is $15 to $20 and includes a drink ticket (http://californianightlife.com). The party goes from noon until 2 a.m.

Tam O’Shanter
2980 Los Feliz Blvd., 323-664-0228

So what, it’s a Scottish pub. Not on St. Patrick’s Day. Beyond the authentic old school pub inside this Atwater Village institution, “The Tam” is once again setting up a tent in the parking lot to celebrate their island neighbor in style. Celtic bands and bagpipes start at 2 p.m., and the festivities go until close. Fill up on green beer, Irish coffee, corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash and a whole lot more. Admission is free.

The Thirsty Crow
2939 W. Sunset Blvd., 323-661-6007

Feel like staying slightly closer to home? Hey, we hear you—easier cab ride. Silver Lake’s favorite whiskey bar will be serving up Irish whiskey shots (Tullamore Dew) along with a Pabst Blue Ribbon for just six bucks. St. Patrick’s Day schwag will be on hand to keep things festive. Feeling ambitious? Try working your way through the dozen or so Irish whiskeys on the menu.

1800 W. Sunset Blvd, 213-989-1558

Bypass crowds of boozed-up revelers and celebrate with a nice Irish meal instead. After 5 p.m., Masa will be serving up a special St. Patrick’s Day feast: corned beef brisket with colcannon (cabbage and potatoes), plus Irish soda bread for $12.95. Bouns: You won’t feel like dying come Friday morning.

1538 W. Sunset Blvd., 213-250-4256

Who says you can't celebrate St. Paddy's Day at a Mexican restaurant? Echo Park institution Barragan's, for one. In addition to ‘ritas, they’ll be slinging green beer, apple ‘tinis and $5 Jameson shots. Get there early to take advantage of happy hour (3:30 to 7 p.m.) and stay for the DJ (6 p.m. to midnight).

1449 W. Sunset Blvd., 213-250-4505

Because you’ve been pinched all day, green beer makes your stomach turn and you’ve had all the bagpipes you can handle, thank you very much. A mariachi trio, flaming margarita and chips and salsa have never sounded better. Save a few bucks on drinks during happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m.
