What do You Tell People When They Don’t Know Where Eagle Rock is?

“Between Glendale and Pasadena” is a common response—but there are bound to be others.

“You live in Arkansas?”

That was the response veteran Eagle Rocker Richard Espinoza got when he told someone years ago that he lives in Eagle Rock.

Evidently, the person had never heard of Eagle Rock and thought Espinoza had said Little Rock, the capital of Arkansas whose name is almost synonymous with the state’s most famous native, former President Bill Clinton.

(These days, when asked where Eagle Rock is, Espinoza, who writes the Neighborhood Nomad column for Eagle Rock Patch, replies facetiously: “Malibu adjacent.”)

Patch asks: What’s the most bizarre response you’ve ever got when you’ve told people where you live—and what do you usually say to them if they don’t know where Eagle Rock is?

Note: Our question was inspired by a story on Highland Park-Mt. Washington Patch Wednesday by editor David Fonseca. Click here to read the story, titled, “How do You Describe Highland Park to Someone Who Doesn’t Know the Neighborhood?”

Funny fact-- could tell people where it's where Cole Trickle was from in Days of Thunder.

I've always said between Glendale and Pasadena. People seem to get it once I say that.

I thought "Harry" said he was from Glendale...

I use the "between Glendale and Pasadena" explanation. Sometimes, "It's where the 134, 2, and 5, meet." "It's where Obama went to college... or where the Reservoir Dogs coffee shop scene was shot (Pat and Lorraines)." haha.

North of Dodgers Stadium, in between Pasadena & Glendale. Oh and a few exit's from the Rose Bowl.
