West Hills Ex-Marine to be Honored by Dodgers

Sgt. Patryck Stanwood will be honored as the Veteran of the Game Wednesday when the Dodgers play the New York Yankees at Dodger Stadium.

Recently discharged U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Patryck Stanwood of West Hills will be honored as the Veteran of the Game Wednesday, when the Los Angeles Dodgers meet the New York Yankees at Dodger Stadium.

Stanwood enlisted in 2005 and was trained as an embarkation chief. He was deployed to Afghanistan, Kuwait, Jordan and Australia and stationed at Camp Pendleton and Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Stanwood received the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan.

Stanwood is pursing a bachelor's degree in business management at Cal State Northridge.

Cristiano Ronaldo will throw a ceremonial first pitch, three days before he and his Real Madrid teammates play in the first soccer game at Dodger Stadium as part of the Guinness International Champions Cup. Its opponent -- either Everton of the English Premier League or Italy's Juventus -- will be determined by results of games played today at San Francisco's AT&T Park and Thursday at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
