Wednesday Night BBQ Is a Summer Thing
An Eastside tradition has roots dating back to the 1980s.
Buck Convention
American tradition would have us believe that we wait for the weekend to have our BBQ. The regulars at Wednesday Night BBQ beg to differ. Eastside residents take turns hosting this longstanding summer tradition.

An email schedule is distributed and updated so everyone knows where to show up with their grillables and potluck offerings. Did I mention beer? Every year, Tim Elliott and Miki Berman of Echo Park pick their night to fire up the coals and ice the cooler.

While there is no argument that the whole thing started in the early 80s there are several versions of its true origins and permutations. One is that it was originally called the East Hollywood/Silver Lake BBQ.
It's Who You Know, Sorta
How do you attend? It's by no means an exclusive affair. You won't find a more inclusive and friendlier bunch. That said, if you didn't hear about it word of mouth, you probably don't belong there. All that to say, ask around, it ain't hard to find. The governing ethos is that you participate, bring something to share and be creative. Oh and be friendly.
