While it may sound like the beginning of a scary movie, this Echo Park storefront is actually just another imaginative installation by the art group known as Machine Project and the unusual storefront is only a hint of what lies inside.

Funeral Services Planned for Joseph Gatto in Los Feliz: Family, friends and community members will gather in Los Feliz next Monday at a funeral mass for Joseph Gatto. Gatto, the father of California Assemblyman Mike Gatto, was found shot to death Friday inside his Silver Lake home – the victim of an apparent home invasion.

LAPD Using Zombies to Prevent Theft in Northeast L.A.: The Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Division last week released a new zombie-themed campaign to help deter vehicle thefts in the area. The new crime prevention effort includes a video posted to YouTube depicting "zombie bandits" hungry for valuables left unattended inside vehicles.

Police Seek Man With Possible Connection to Gatto Slaying: The Los Angeles Police Department on Tuesday sought the public's help in locating a man that may have a connection to last week's murder of Joseph Gatto in Silver Lake. Police said they are looking for a man wanted for an alleged assault with a deadly weapon that occurred the evening before Gatto was found shot to death in his home.

Two Convicted of Murdering Echo Park Marijuana Clinic Employee: Two men were convicted Tuesday in the shooting death of an employee and the wounding of a security guard during a robbery at a medical marijuana clinic in Echo Park. Raymond Lemone Easter, 30, and Daniel Hinton, 35, were found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Matthew Butcher, 27, along with the attempted murder of a security guard who was shot in the head during the June 24, 2010, heist at the Higher Path Holistic Care Collective in the 1300 block of West Sunset Boulevard.

Echo Park Chevron Agrees to Light Pollution Fix for Neighbors: After hearing complaints from neighbors about light pollution caused from the new Echo Park Chevron station Echo Park and Morton Avenues, Councilman Mitch O'Farrell's office said they were able to reach a compromise with the station's owners to help fix the issue.

City Extends Section of Sunset Parking Meters to Two Hours:At the request of local residents and businesses, a section of parking meters along Sunset Boulevard between Alvarado and Waterloo streets were extended by the city to a time limit of two hours, according to Councilman Mitch O'Farrell's office. Previously, the parking meters carried a one-hour time limit, which drew complaints from business and residents along the busy stretch of Sunset, said O'Farrell's field deputy Adam Bass.
