Echo Park Lake gets ready for this weekend's Lotus Festival.

This early arrival at the Echo Park lake location of the 33rd Lotus Festival may be the only dragon on hand this weekend.

Organizers cancelled the lengendary Dragon Boat RACES last month.

It is free and open to the public. Plan for the heat--but not for fireworks. There won't be any.
