Neighborhood Council Committee to Meet on Monday

All members of the public are invited to attend.

The Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council Schools, Libraries and Community Organizations Committee will focus on helping meet the needs of the community at its meeting on Monday.

As part of the monthly meeting, the committee will look at schools and libraries in Echo Park in order to help assess their needs.

The organization donated $1,000 each last year to six local schools, according to Committee Chair Cheryl Ortega.

"We want to be advocates and supporters for our public schools and libraries," Ortega said. "We thought it would be important to find out what would be most useful for them, and the libraries as well, even with our small donations."

Whether to support "Walk or Bike to School Day" will also be addressed at Monday's meeting.

Members of the public are invited to attend as well.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, at the Cisneros Learning Academy Auditorium located at 1018 Mohawk St.
