Community Corner

Echo Park Community Afro-Percussion Ensemble and Festival

Spring is in the air. And what better way to welcome the season of growth and new beginnings than a celebration with the friends and community. The Echo Park Community Afro-percussion ensemble is a facilitated drum circle if you will where everyone (musicians and novices alike) is welcomed to participate. But this isn't your typical drum circle. It will be led by a a group of drum facilitators who will provide logistics, rhythm..., and structure from which the percussive vibrations will flow.

Once again this event is for everyone. If you would like to contribute to the experience, bring your percussive instrumentation, homemade or otherwise. To enhance the drumming experience, there will also be dancing, puppetry, live art, balloons, hula-hooping, face painting and more.

We hope to make this a monthly event for friends and community alike. Bring a blanket and enjoy the beauty of Echo Park Lake. There may or may not be food trucks on hand that may just so happen pull up to the lake. Feel free to pack a picnic and bring whatever goodies you'd like to enhance your experience (keep in mind this is a public park and while we are not encouraging or discouraging anything, be responsible and mindful).

Spread the word and community vibes........see ya in the park!
