Comments of the Week: "Does it make sense to shuffle the SLO officers and remove SLO officers who are doing fantastic work in their assignments?"

Check out the best, funniest, strangest and most informative things our readers have to say.

We take pride in our work here at Patch and always strive to bring our readers interesting news. However, we must admit, sometimes the most interesting part of a great Patch story is the comments from readers that it sparks.

Here are some of the best, funniest, strangest and most informative comments from Patch stories around the Northeast L.A. and Hollywood Patch sites this past week:

Goodbye Officer Ochoa—You’ll be Missed in Garvanza and Northern Highland Park

In Highland Park, readers wished a Los Angeles police officer well in a new assignment. Officer Ochoa spent more than five months getting to know the neighborhood and connecting with the community. Based on the comments, readers expressed some frustration with the officer's short stay in the neighborhood.

El Cid July 25, 2013 at 01:39 AM Officer Ochoa is GREAT! North of York NW misses Officer Ochoa! Best wishes on your new assignment! Question? Does it make sense to shuffle the SLO officers and remove SLO officers who are doing fantastic work in their assignments? In the short time period we had SLO Ochoa, he made it a point to meet with our NW group, know the immediate concerns in our community, know the players involved and proactively work with his fellow LAPD brothers to support our efforts in ridding our community of crime. With all due respect to Capt. Bert - Highland Park is still predominately a Hispanic community! SLO Ochoa is bilingual, proactive, knowledgeable, resourceful, and attuned to listening to HP residents! Now, we must start from the beginning to get SLO Chang on board. It's frustrating with the lack of policing in the area, summer vacations for officers, and resources being diverted to other areas! Highland Park wants its share of City Services. And to the HHPNC - I like to know when do you plan to invite Capt. Bert to your bi-monthly meeting and discuss issues/concerns that affect our community?

L.A. City Council Approves Millennium Hollywood Project

In Hollywood, readers opposing the recently approved Millennium Project have been in a majority of the comments expressing concern toward the project. William Bergmann was among the few, who spoke up in favor of the development pointing out that growth must happen. What do you think?

William Bergmann July 25, 2013 at 09:47 AM Developments like this can be looked at as the life's blood of Hollywood. They must happen or we become Detroit. The important goal is to properly manage the growth that is so necessary. There will be many opportunities down the road for concerned people to be heard, this is far from over. But be prepared also fro all of the developments that will follow.

SW Museum

Like many of you, I have always treasured the SW Museum, was crushed when the Autry shut it down and for a period of time attended the Save the Museum Coalition.  At some point, I gave up.  It seems the City had no clout with the Autry and the treasures at the SW would be hauled away to Griffith Park.  Good for Dan Wright for never giving up.  Perhaps his frustration over the lack of support from the MWA was reflected in his choice of words.  He gives his time and expertise and the rest of us sit idly by.  Sorry Dan, I'll try to do better and I hope others will as well.  Betsy Mines
