Cee Lo Green Charged With Providing Ecstasy to Woman in Downtown L.A.

The singer and judge on "The Voice" pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday.

Singer Cee Lo Green, a judge on the reality show "The Voice," pleaded not guilty today to slipping ecstasy to a woman at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant.

The 38-year-old Green, whose legal name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, was charged with one count of furnishing a controlled substance, MDMA ecstasy. Prosecutors declined to file a charge of rape of an intoxicated person, citing insufficient evidence.

According to the District Attorney's Office, Green allegedly slipped the pill to a 33-year-old woman while they were at a restaurant having dinner either late in the evening of July 13, 2012, or early the next morning.

The 33-year-old alleged victim contended that she had dinner with Green last summer, then woke up to find herself naked in bed.

Green appeared at the arraignment hearing in downtown Los Angeles to plead not guilty. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Shelly Torrealba set bail at $30,000.

Defense attorney Blair Berk said Green was prepared to post bond immediately and the judge ordered him to remain seated in the courtroom until it was posted.

He also needs to be booked by police, which Berk said he had agreed to do within 24 hours. The judge gave him seven days to complete the process.

Green must return to court on Nov. 20, when a date will be set for a preliminary hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to order him to stand trial.

If convicted, Green faces up to four years in state prison, according to prosecutors.
