Keys to Awesomeness: In the year since she first started at Gabriella Charter School, Alanis Gordillo has earned good grades, worked on her writing after school and read the entire Harry Potter series, all 3400-odd pages of it. (She’s starting over and is already finished with “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” – again.) Alanis impressed assistant principal Sara Erickson with her high level of academic achievement. Ms. Erickson says that Alanis sets a positive example for others with her mature behavior, listening skills and hard work. In addition to earning 95% on a recent math test, Alanis works on her writing skills at 826LA in Echo Park. Now she cultivates her own journalistic skills with creative pieces on sports and movies.
