L.A. State Historic Park Gets $20.8M Makeover

Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles) on Saturday, March 15, 2014 helped lead a groundbreaking ceremony for Los Angeles State Historic Park – the 32-acre, open-space revitalization project for which he worked to secure $20.8 million in funding. Like the Los Angeles River revitalization, Gomez said, “this park will be a catalyst for the Northeast Los Angeles Renaissance.” New facilities will include a visitor center and an innovative UCLA Interpretive Media Lab project – in which the park will be a “living laboratory” to create new ways for communities to use public space. The first phase of construction on permanent facilities is set to commence this month. The park will be closed during construction.
