Here are five things to start off your Tuesday in Echo Park and Silver Lake:

  1. Drivers were warned Sunday to expect presidential motorcades in the Glendale area as Barack Obama plans to visit Dreamworks Studios on Tuesday. See the affected streets and closing times here.
  2. An overflow crowd of friends, relatives and former students packed a Los Feliz church Monday for the funeral of Joseph Gatto, the 78-year-old father of Assemblyman Mike Gatto. Joseph Gatto, a former teacher, was shot to death Nov. 13 in his home in the 2800 block of Bright Lane in Silver Lake. The killer remains at large.
  3. A 37-year-old gang member was convicted Monday of two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder for a series of shootings in Glassell  Park and Echo Park in 2009. Read more in our article here.
