Echo Park Stroller Thief Thwarted

Reader Julia Lopez says watch out for a woman in a Jeep Cherokee. She tried to steal Lopez's stroller from the inside an Elysian Heights apartment complex Monday.

About 10:30 Monday morning, Julia Lopez was ready to pass off her double stroller to her sister, who was coming by to take her kids on a walk.

She left it inside the courtyard of her apartment complex in the 1800 block of Lucretia Avenue in Echo Park.

The next thing she knew, a woman, perhaps in her mid-20s, was stuffing it into a grayish-brown Jeep Cherokee.

Lopez's husband intervened and pulled the stroller away the woman, who drove off.

The couple got her license plate number and have filed a police report with LAPD's Northeast Division.

Says Julia:

This is a $700 stroller, so it would've been a sad day if she had managed to get away with it. Yes, I will never leave it there again but this is just a warning to our neighbors to make sure to lock your valuables even when they are inside your property.

They'll be keeping everyone posted. So be sure to keep an eye on the announcement Julia posted on Patch.
