Updated: EP Gang Stabbing Leaves One Dead, Another Wounded

The stabbing happened at around 8 p.m. Friday night, according to police.

Update: The victim killed in Friday night's stabbing is being identified as 22-year-old Jose Villa, according to the Los Angeles Times. 

According to the Times, Villa died in a local hospital. The other young man remains hospitalized.

He told officers that there may have been two assailants.

No arrests have ever been made in that case.

Previously: One man is dead and another was injured during a Friday night stabbing in the 400 block of Coronado Terrace, according to police. One man was found at Coronado Terrace while the other was discovered on Temple Street. According to police, both men were gang members, and investigators are still sorting out the elements leading up to the incident.

"It may have been a mutual combat thing, since both guys were in the same gang ... or someone else may have come and stabbed them," said Sgt. Michael Mabie of the LAPD's Rampart Station. "We're still figuring that out."

No arrests have been made. City News Service reports that both victims were in their early 20s.
