Roger Guenveur Smith Takes on Rodney King
The long-time Echo Park resident is premiering new work at the Bootleg Theater through Aug. 19.
Obie Award-winning actor, writer, and director Roger Guenveur Smith is back at his "neighborhood theater" with new work inspired by the late Rodney King.
King's beating by LAPD officers was videotaped and broadcast worldwide. THe officers' acquittal sparked the 1992 L.A. riots.

King died last month, but his question "Can we all get along?" in the aftermath will live on.

Smith has frequently performed his history-infused work at the Bootleg, which he describes his neighborhood theater.
He'll be there through Aug. 19 with performances Thursday through Sunday.
Sunday's afternoon shows feature a Q&A with Smith, which is not to be missed.
