Punk Rock Ephemera Has Staying Power

A new exhibit in Echo Park features photos, art and flyers from punk and hardcore's heydey.

Flyers from early punk and hardcore shows were there for the taking.  And taken they were--ripped right off the wall-- by the hundreds who crowded Friday night for the opening of Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die.

DJs mixed it up with punk anthems and hardcore classics as enthusiasts moshed and mouthed along.  In the gallery space, people oohed and ahhed over archival photos and contemporary paintings.

The show features work by Dave Markey, Raymond Pettibon, Jenny Lens, Glen E. Friedman and other noted documentarians of punk and hardcore in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
