Public Works Prez Explains Her 'No' Vote on Sunset Junction (VIDEO)

Andrea Alarcon also worries that the current costs estimated for a 2011 fair are low.

The board may reconsider their decision Wednesday, but it will require a motion by one of the commissioners.

That motion is unlikely unless the fair pays at least approximately $142,000 in fees for city services up front.

Board president Andrea Alarcon was one of those who voted against the permit.

She explains her decision in the accompanying video, noting that "the law requires that all fees be paid prior to the issuance of any special events permits."

Current Estimate of 2011 Fees May Be Low

Alarcon also told Patch that she believes the nearly $142,000 estimated for police and other municipal services is too low.

She says the estimate is based on city departments using "on duty services."

She says departments may now have to "secure services on an overtime basis," causing costs to rise.
