Echo Country Outpost Stakes A New Claim

The boutique and venue is moving to Glendale Boulevard.

There are many reasons to be impressed with

The maverick lodge-boutique is also a venue and producer for important country and folk shows.

That’s why the “For Rent” signs that appeared on the building caught my eye. Was the Outpost another victim of our churning economy?

Nope.

Echo Park Now tells us that the Outpost isn’t folding:  it’s growing and going into the multi-level space until recently occupied by 2-Headed Horse Productions at 1770 Glendale Blvd.

The Outpost posted a proposed floor plan on its Facebook page late last week.

I’ve attended events at the 1770 space, and it looks to be a perfect fit: stage, kitchen and an outdoor back patio area perfect for the Outpost's legendary BBQs.

I only worry a bit about the parking and the busy traffic outside whizzing to the 2 Freeway.

We're still waiting to hear more from the three Outpost principals about their plans.

This much we've heard: Chris Hajek and Erica Fourneret just got married—one great reason to go underground for a bit.

Meantime, it's too early to say what will take the Outpost's place on Echo Park Avenue.

But if you hear anything, let us know.

UPDATE from Chris Hajek: Outpost is my wife Erica Forneret and myself, Chris Hajek. There isn't a third partner. He was around for a few months, but is now functioning as our Editor-at-Large out of Austin, TX. Perhaps there will be some developments on that front soon as well!
