Man Arrested in Echo Park Pedestrian Death May Have Been Looking at Bluetooth

Gregory Andrew Fein of Chino Hills was taken into custody Tuesday and could be charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Update: Detective Felix Padilla of LAPD's Central Traffic Division confirmed that Gregory Fein of Chino hills was arrested and booked on charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

Padilla also said that Fein was released on bond Tuesday. He said no date has yet been set for an arraignment, but he said Fein's release on bond could delay it beyond the usual ten days after booking.

Earlier: A man alleged to have hit and killed a pedestrian may have been fiddling with his Bluetooth device at the time; he was arrested Tuesday, according to City News Service.

Gregory Andrew Fein, 40, of Chino Hills is being held on $50,000 bail after his car hit Aureliano Poblano, 65, of Echo Park on the morning of April 11, police told CNS.

Poblano, who was struck at the corner of Echo Park and Lucretia avenues in Echo Park, died in the hospital soon after.

City News Service says it is up to prosecutors in the District Attorney's Office to decide if Fein should be charged with a crime.

Poblano lived with his wife in the 1700 block of Echo Park Avenue for decades and raised three children there.

The death has many the community calling for a crosswalk or speed bumps at the curvy stretch of road.
