Author Sandra Cisneros to Visit EP for School Ribbon Cutting

The public is invited to the event Thursday at Echo Park's new Sandra Cisneros Learning Academy.

Mexican-American author Sandra Cisneros is scheduled to come to Echo Park Thursday for the official riboon-cutting of the new school at Sunset Boulevard and Mohawk Street.

The former CRES #14 was re-named the in her honor.

The author of The House on Mango Street and other award-wining novels will join public officials--including, LAUSD District 5 trustee Bennett Kayser and LAUSD superintendent John Deasy---as well as parents and other locals.

All are welcome at the event, according to a flyer from LAUSD.

The ceremony begins at 1:30 pm. on the school campus at 1018 Mohawk St. Parking will be tough so plan ahead and come early.
