'All Ears' Bandit Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery Charge

Stepan Dovlatyan did not make a plea in the two attempted robbery charges against him, including one for an incident March 19 in Echo Park.

A man charged with being the "All Ears" bandit pleaded guilty Monday to robbing a Citibank branch in Bell Gardens of $5,800 using a threatening demand note.

Stepan Dovlatyan, 25, faces a potential sentence of 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine, plus restitution payments.

Sentencing is set for Dec. 5.

The Bell Gardens robbery took place March 12.

Dovaltyan was also charged in two other robberies, on March 14 in Carson and on

He did not plea to either of those charges, which presumably were dropped in the plea bargaining phase.

Dovaltyan has been free on bail.

An FBI spokesperson says he was identified through evidence left one of the banks, not by his big ears, which led to his being called the "All Ears Bandit."
